ABOUT BUSELAPHI GXOWA/EDUCATION

Buselaphi was born in the Nongoma, Ngolotshe district of KwaZulu Natal, South Africa. She was raised in that neighborhood and admired by the kids in her neighborhood when she was younger. Her parents taught this to her as a fundamental rule for life in general, regardless of how old she was. She commenced her schooling at Ngolotsha Community School, where even at an early age, she shown remarkable abilities. Eight years later, she took part in extracurricular sports and performed quite well in them. She was particularly skilled at netball, scoring goals and singing in the school chorus, in addition to other cultural events like dancing and beading. She had become an established artist in traditional music when she completed her elementary education at Hlambanyathi Primary School. She chose to stay at home for three years to recover till she was able to manage her financial security after having to drop out of high school to attend her higher level. It would have been preferable for her to pursue a college degree.

As a result, she continued her education at Hambangendlela High School before completing her matriculation at PhumuzuZuluHS. She was the greatest in both traditional music and basketball during her time in high school. She begged her parents for permission to leave her hometown of Ngolotshwe after graduating and they granted it. She then proceeded to hunt for a job in Johannesburg. When she was appointed as a security guard in Johannesburg a month later, she performed well. She first made the acquaintance of the late Mr. Simosakhe Mthalane in 1993. Then, on my way home from work, we met at the lift of the apartment where we were staying together. We struck up a conversation as soon as the man with the guitar asked me if I knew any women or people in KwaZulu-Natal with whom he could form a traditional music group. She followed that chance there. Her musical talent developed into a career. Here, we established the traditional music group Imithente, of which she served as the lead vocalist and composer. Several of the songs performed by the group with Mr. Mthalane. Gallo Records signed Imithente, who went on to release 13 albums. They recorded hit songs as the Maskandi group, and they received numerous nominations, prizes, and certificates in recognition of their achievements. They take their traditional music on trips both domestically and international.

BUSELAPHI GXOWA’S CAREER/RELATIONSHIP

In her career as a musician, Buselaphi continued. With a passion for music, she wrote her solo album Thwa’Inco in 2005 while she was a member of the Imithente Group. Her three albums, Thwal’Inco, Yibo Laba, and Umendo, were released after she also signed with Gallo Records. That demonstrates that you are, in fact, a root canal of traditional music, or what is known as Isizulu music. This is where her musical achievement spans the globe. As a well-known performer of Amahubo, Imigqigqo, and Izinkondlo zomakoti, she was already a star of the Imithente group.

That makes her music distinct. She then made the decision to continue her education in 2000 and enrolled in Start Up Business College, a post-secondary business school, where she studied business management before earning her degree in just one year. Consequently, she and her spouse founded B.W.Music Production, a music production firm. Her husband, a sound designer and producer in the music business, was someone she met in the early days of Imithente. In the field of music industry, Woyisile Gxowa, also known as Bazooka, married Buselaphi MaButhelezi Gxowa. They were fortunate to be married in 2004 and have a daughter. Numerous outstanding musicians, like NtomboMxhosa, AmaZwide, Izihlabathi Zolwandle, Abafana Bothando, Umlamuli, Iminyezane, Bazooka, and even the Queen herself, Buselaphi, have been signed by their music organization (recording label). Under the label B.W.Music Production, she has published six albums: Yaqhum’Imbadada/Dlala Ntombazane, Inkunzi Emalunde, Yekani Ukubulala Obhejane, Gijima Ntuthwane, GabiGabi, and Umakhandakhanda, the most recent of which features Camagwini and Shota.
