Ntokozo Mbambo’s biography

Singer and songwriter Ntokozo Mbambo was born in South Africa on 6th November 1985. At the young age of 15, Mbambo who was born and reared in Umlazi, started his career in the music industry as the lead vocalist and member of the gospel ensemble Joyful Festival. She first appeared on film as a judge in Idols SA season 17 in the year 2021 and I Want to Sing Gospel in the year 2014. Six African Gospel Music and Media Awards, five South African Music Awards, two Crown Gospel Music Awards, two Praise Excellence Awards, one Metro FM Music Award and one Basadi in Music Award are among her honors.

Mbambo was born on the 6th of November 1985, in uMlazi, KwaZulu-Natal, South Africa where she was also raised. Her passion for singing began at an early age, and in 2002, at the age of 15, she became the newest member of the South African gospel choir Joyous Celebration, serving as lead singer. Mbambo attended the Durban North Varsity College and graduated in 2006 with a degree in information technology programming. Additionally, she studied at the University of Zululand, where she earned a Bachelor of Education (BEd) in English Language and Literature/Letters and Social Sciences.

In 2001, Mbambo published Bambelela, her first studio album. Keep on Believing which was her live CD, was published in 2007. She was nominated for three 2007 Crown Gospel Music Awards and for Top Gospel Album at the Metro FM Music Awards. In 2012, Mbambo started working on her solo studio album after leaving Joyous Celebration in 2011 and signing with Koko Records.

Filmed during a performance at the Lyric Theatre, Filled was released in the year 2012. South Africa awarded the album a Double Platinum certification. In 2014, she landed her first TV appearance as a judge on the third season of the SABC 2 Gospel reality show, I Want to Sing Gospel. On the 10th of October 2015, she the released of Spirit and Life which was her fourth studio album. It won Artiste Of Excellence Southern Africa and Event Of Excellence at the 2017 African Gospel Music and Media Awards ceremony, and it was nominated for Album Of Excellence and Female Artiste Of Excellence.

Mbambo made an appearance as a guest judge member on season 17 of Idols SA in July 2021. Mbambo used Instagram to reveal her surprise studio album in the beginning of November 2022. Moments in Time was made available online on November 6, 2018. Lavish Worship, her studio album, was made available on March 21, 2023. At the 29th South African Music Awards, Lavish Worship took up three honors: record of the Year, Best Contemporary Faith record of the year, and Female Artist of the Year.

Furthermore, Lavish Worship won Best Gospel Album at the 18th Metro FM Music Awards and received a nomination for Best Female. Mbambo sang the South African national anthem for the Springboks at Hollywood bets Kings Park Stadium in Durban at the beginning of July 2024.

She is in a relationship. She is married to a music producer whose name is Nqubeko Mbatha. They got married on the 17th May 2008.
