Sibusiso Gcabashe explains to the public that he isn’t fake

The well known maskandi artist  Sibusiso Gcabashe resembles another famous. For mimicking Maskandi star Mgqumeni Khumalo, who passed away in 2009, Gcabashe was imprisoned in 2012. He claimed to have stopped elaborating after repeatedly telling Maskandi supporters that he is not the imprisoned Gcabashe.

The musician, who hails from Nquthu in northern KZN, goes by Mzomuhle Mnyandu, although he names himself Sibusiso Gcabashe. He declined to give specific replies when the Daily Sun pressed him further, claiming he was sick of having to defend himself. He was the award-winning Mgqumeni who had risen from the grave, according to Mzansi, who will remember Gcabashe.

In the year 2012, he caught the attention of the global press. Many people gathered at Mgqumeni’s house in Nquthu, north of KZN, at the appointed moment to see her purportedly rise from the dead. In Mzansi, his allegation also generated controversy; some people believed it, while others didn’t. Among them was Captain Vincent Mdunge, the KZN police spokesperson at the time, who attested to Mgqumeni’s resurrection.

But after comparing Gcabashe’s biometrics to Mgqumeni’s, he was futher arrested by the police for fraud which happed on the day of the disclosure in front of thousands of witnesses. He was further found guilty and was given a 22-year prison sentence in the year 2016. The Maskandi musician made a comeback years later. He said that others had approached him and asked him who he was.

Individuals have been after me, inquiring as to whether I am Gcabashe, who posed as Mgqumeni. Not that Gcabashe, me. Although I don’t look like him, I think we do. Is it okay for me to create music and perform for my fans without interference? “Mzomuhle said.” He also said that remembrance with another person wasn’t an issue but it became one in his own time.

“People can believe what they want,” he replied in response to the news reporter’s question about if he names himself Sibusiso Gcabashe to become more popular. “I don’t reply to press inquiries. I can state that actual admirers are familiar with me and that’s not my true identity. They are aware of my identity and what I stand for. Again, though, I’m not Gcabashe. Since many people have dubbed me Gcabashe, I go by that name. “This began as a joke,” he stated. Working with Potso Ngobese, the former leader of the maskandi ensemble Amageza Amahle, in 2016, Mzomuhle made his debut in the music industry.
