Maskandi gospel artist returns back after being away for a long period of time
Bongani Maduna, a 39-year-old gospel maskandi musician from Umkhomazi, southern KZN, has declared his comeback to the music industry following a short absence in 2022. Known for his hit song Makhelwane Wami, Bongani chose to take a break from music because of a number of issues, such as being passed over by the media and event planners.
In a conversation with news, Bongani revealed that his return was greatly aided by his supporters. He claimed that his fans, who had previously purchased his music at street fairs, promised to stick by him.
According to him, he never intended to because of the things they actually said about him and he realized that he is what he is today because of them. In the journey, he recently released a new album which he titled Ngikhathele. The album was released on the 5th of May 2024. He also released an amazing album in his previous year of recording. In 2022, he released Ngibhizi. This amazing album received a lot of streams. After he chose to take a quick break from producing music.
Known for his distinctive fusion of gospel and maskandi music, Bongani added that some of the event organizers’ infidelity was another issue that forced him to put his music career on hold in order to concentrate on his company. But his desire to provide audiences with a distinctive musical experience has brought him back to gospel maskandi.
“After starting my career in gospel music in 2009, I switched to maskandi after realizing that it has a lot of fans. I started writing my own song to set myself apart from the other musicians after noticing that many of them were copying the late musician Mgqumeni Khumalo,” he stated.
