MR.VEE SHOLO Biography
MR.VEE SHOLO is one of the amazing and talented south africa maskandi artist. In addition to performing music Mr. Vee Sholo wrote a book called 10 Money Mistakes I Made That You Must Avoid, is a master’s candidate, and graduated with honors from UCT Medical School with a BSc in Audiology.
Mr. Vee Sholo’s aspiration for music started at an early stage of life. He has always being motivated with maskandi songs as well as it artists. Maskandi culture and tradition has always been an inspiration to him. In 2003, he started his musical career as a studio session musician and backup voice. He is currently a self-employed musician signed to Veectory Music Production, his own record company. During that year (2003) he tried out to be Khanyisa Sabuka Nkantsu‘s backing vocalist. He has 10 projects, two EPs, and two albums to his credit. His compositions such as “Akalali Umntu Ozal’inkwenkwe” are well-known.
He went to secondary education and also high school where he graduated. In 2013, he graduated with a Bachelor of Science degree in audiology from the University of Cape Town. He is presently enrolled at the University of Fort Hare to pursue a degree in music.
The University of Fort Hare has hosted events with Mr. Vee Sholo as the performer and main attraction, such as the Men’s Indaba and the Africa Day celebration.
One of the track which he published over the years includes Igwijo Lodumo. Igwijo Lodumo is a five-track EP that Mr. Vee Sholo published in November 2023. The EP was part of a talent competition to promote traditional and amagwijo music, and it was recorded at Solar Records in East London.
The music of Mr. Vee Sholo is highly known, and his compositions can be heard on local, commercial, and SABC radio stations as well as on all of the main digital streaming services. His commitment and diligence paid off when he received nominations for the Best Male Artist award and Best Partnership at the Independent National Gospel Music Awards (INGOMA) and Victory Gospel Music Awards.
Mr. Vee Sholo’s first album, *Rejoice in the Lord*, was published in 2012. His second album which is titled “Uyesu Uyabuya”, was released in 2016 and included collaborations with well-known musicians Butho Vuthela and Betusile Mcinga. With his debut amagwijo album, Ngamamenemene, published in February 2022, he entered a new musical realm. Since then, he has released six more projects, including his most recent, Ngiyabonga Mzali wami. Mr. Vee Sholo continuously produces excellence in all of his undertakings and is renowned for his maturity, collaboration, and flexibility.
Kuyabongwa, Ngamamenemene, and Akalali, three of Mr. Vee Sholo’s beloved classics, have enthralled audiences throughout South Africa. Due to his captivating stage persona, he has shared the limelight with well-known performers like DJ Tira, Dumza Maswana, DJ Sox, and Dlala Mshunqisi. Mr. Vee Sholo recently released an album in which he worked with Linric Toto, a musician from the United Kingdom, broadening his creative horizons.
His ability and diligence were acknowledged in 2024 when he received nominations for Best Isixhosa Artist and Song of the Year at the SATMA Awards. In addition to his musical profession, Mr. Vee Sholo is a University of Cape Town BSc in Audiology (Honours) graduate and is presently enrolled in the University of Fort Hare BA in Music program. He wrote the book 10 Money Mistakes I Made that You Must Avoid, demonstrating his skill as an author.
