Maskandi legends and Rhuma will be performing at the Big five concert
This Saturday, fans of Rhuma and Maskandi will be treated to a performance called “the big 5” at Esibayeni Leisure Spot in the eMatshohobana district of Bulawayo. The program will feature several of the top live artists that hail from the Matabeleland district.
Godolude and his band Eze Energy, the legendary SaMangwe and Mlambos Express Band, the lively Clement Magwaza and Macrey sounds, the humorous Madlela Skhobohhobo, and the maskandi maestro Zinjaziyamluma are all part of the celebrity program.
The “Big 5” performance was sparked by the musicians’ wish to bring together indigenous musicians and support people who are in need, according to Thabiso Ndlovu, one of the event organizers. “Upon working together with a common objective of fostering the growth of local music as well as communicate the importance of unity, the five artists themselves organized the Big Five show,” he said.
According to Ndlovu, the event is also being conducted in favor of the Nobuhle Virgie Foundation, which helps South African Zimbaweans who are homeless by giving them food, goods, and a way to get home. The foundation also provides assistance to families in Bulawayo that are at risk. Additionally, it’s about bringing attention to problems that South African Zimbabweans face. Through our music, we hope to convey an intention of humanity. He went on to say that the occasion’s main goal is to increase youth knowledge concerning drug and alcohol usage, as many of them frequently attend these kinds of events.
A special encounter is what fans can anticipate. experiencing a once-in-a-lifetime chance to watch Magwaza, Mlambos, Godolude, Zinjaziyamluma, and Madlela Skhobokhobo on the same stage. Ndlovu said, “The entertainment will be unmatched and the vibe will be amazing.” One of the event’s main speakers, Madlela Skhobokhobo, reiterated the concept of togetherness and emphasized that the partnership is a significant step in promoting local art and culture. Zinjaziyamluma asked supporters to show up in force. “This organization attracted me to join because of its unity of purpose. Foreign influences/interest and content frequently overshadow our art, but if we band together, we may use our own abilities to encourage our people to return to their own traditions. He also added that he believe that this spirit of working together expands to other genres so that our people really understand that local is liker.”
We pledge to do our absolute best. This is a festival of our culture, rather than just a show. We want everyone to have an unforgettable evening, so we’re giving it our all,” he remarked.
Godolude, who is currently probably the best live performer, emphasized the concert’s future objectives.
“Although we may eventually switch locations, we hope to make this a yearly tradition. This show symbolizes our solidarity in the arts industry, and the “Big 5” is here to stay. Prepare yourselves for an experience that will never be forgotten. “I promise explosives,” he said.
Godolude will be dancing with his masters, Clement Magwaza and Fiselani “SaMangwe” Ngwenya, who were instrumental in his ascent to fame as a dancer, therefore the concert is particularly meaningful to him. Mlambos Express Band, who recently returned to Zimbabwe from South Africa, views this partnership as a significant step in advancing the regional music scene.
“For us in the region, this (Big 5) exhibition is a novel strategy. We’ve arrived at the realization that if we perform together, we frequently achieve greater success than when we perform alone. We hope to foster unity among Matabeland artists by working together,” SaMangwe stated.
Magwaza announced that supporters will receive a special sneak peek at his new album, Isiphala Sengqondo, which is scheduled for release in November, following his return from a run of performances in Botswana, including the Domboshava festival.
I’ll be playing a few new songs from my upcoming CD. According to Magwaza, the title track tackles the problem of cellphone theft, which has an impact on people’s life because mobile phones hold sensitive personal data.
The evening is expected to be full of unity, exciting shows, and a celebration of regional art and culture.
