Fans and music fans are shocked to learn that Shwi has been working on a new album, as he had not previously revealed any details about it.

Mandla Xaba, commonly referred to as Shwi Mantombazane, is a South African who was born in Msinga, a town in the Umzinyathi Regional Government of KwaZulu-Natal province. Nicknamed IKhehla Lenyoni, Shwi grew up in a loving home surrounded by traditional Zulu music. Because of his love of music, he and his partner formed the well-known maskandi music duo “Shwi Nomtekhala.” However, the two parted ways following a heated argument, with Shwi going solo with his music.

Shwi announced on June 3rd, 2024, via his official social media accounts that his debut solo maskandi music project, “Sengozibonela Phambili,” would be available on June 14th, 2024. The 13 tracks on the CD are each proof of Shwi’s extraordinary talent and commitment to his trade. Acclaimed musicians Ndoni and Saliwa, who both co-produced the album, have contributions on it. Shwi’s distinctive voice and skillful guitar work have been enhanced by the unique style and excitement of the outstanding pair. The record also includes a rare guest appearance by the gifted Mzukulu, which gives the work even more depth and complex.

On September 18, 2024, Shwi published his solo first album, “Ukuhlupheka Kwami,” to favorable feedback from both reviewers and fans. The album, which featured 11 songs by Nomfundo Ngcobo and Khethonjani Dludla, also served as the debut release for Shwi’s own music production company, “Shwi Music Production.”

Several people were skeptical of Shwi’s decision to go solo, but the popularity of his debut album disproved their claims. His departure from the duo group was met with acclaim from fans for his audacious decision and for delivering an exceptional project.
