Thokozani Langa biography and Early life
Thokozani Langa is an amazing and talented maskandi artist known for his great dedication to music. He was born on the 9th of February, 1972. He hails from Mahlabathini, Kwa-Zulu Natal in South Africa.
Langa has always loved music since his youthful stage. He grew up in a home that loves music and is inspired by music. Growing up in Ulundi, KwaZulu Natal in South Africa, Langa has always been influenced by the gift of vocal and instruments. He was once a leader of a boys group which will always perform in their village filling the atmosphere with the spirit of Christmas. In the group, he was to be their leader. The performance came along side with dances and cheers. It was performed with lot of happiness and love.
Langa position which is was appointed were numerous. He was once appointed as the boys general which is also known as “igoso labafana“. This appointment was made due to massive recognition from the members of the village. The great artist has always dreamt on becoming a Mbaqanga artist but not a maskandi artist.
Langa claimed that listening to Bhekumuzi Luthuli’s music inspired him to attempt maskandi as it included some Mbaqanga and he seemed to certainly involving it. Among other Maskandi artists, he continues to keep this distinctive style up to the present day.
Mahlabathini has released so many amazing and exciting album over the years. One of the album which include I-Protection Order Which was in the year 2011. Langa signed with Bula Music in the year 2004. The song was his third known studio album.
For a while, Langa and another Maskandi artist Bhekumuzi Luthuli were involved in a musical spat. Langa’s 2007 album which was Phuma Kimi, took home the SATMA award for Best Male Artist in September of the exact same period which was about the conflict. He further received the SAMA’s Best Maskandi Album honor in the year 2020.
